Grabbing Time, Andrew Small & Fiona Stirling (Balcony installation)

Andy Small and Fiona Stirling create these works by exchanging materials, experiments, off-cuts, demonstration outcomes, found objects and happy accidents. They pass these objects to each other, grabbing time to discuss the results between their teaching sessions and other jobs and responsibilities, collaborating through ‘successive destructions’ (Bataille) to make new forms.

The artworks evolve through acts of shared and relinquished control. The alterations involve a succession of changes, each destroying the proceeding state, which can be unsettling but fun!
