Text from above image: (…) is an OpenType font designed by Mark Simmonds on the occasion of Liverpool Independents Biennial 2021. A reference to the ‘ellipsis’ punctuation mark, the 26 upper and lower case characters of (…) are drawn from clay bricks found on Blundellsands beach, Merseyside.
Derived from the Latin word to mean leave out, the ellipsis (…) communicates a pause, an unfinished thought, or silence in text. The symbol also appears horizontally or vertically on digital interfaces to indicate a ‘menu’, or sometimes animated to signal that content is ‘loading’, ‘in process’, ‘busy’, or ‘thinking’. The ellipsis leads the reader, with anticipation, to something else.
Use (…) in a variety of ways, or more specifically to add flair to an otherwise standard ellipsis.
