Jay Hampton, Weeds Wanted (citizen science data project now live)

Jay Hampton begun Independents Biennial with a recipe for foraged Dandelion Lemonade.

The project has evolved into Weeds Wanted, a region wide citizen science experiment seeking submissions of photos from ariound the city, sharing the location, quanity and breeds of wildflowers, weeds and self-seeded flora.

The parallels between art and science aren’t often remarked on, but two things stand out. Both industries have higher than usual rates of neurodivergence in employment, and both have drastically lower than usual rates of employment and audience engagement from working classes.

Weeds Wanted is free to use, easy to take part in, and managabler in your own time, meaning that even before its formal launch it ahs received 301 submissions from around the North West.

Some highlights from the project are pasted below, but use your time to share something useful this month, and add your photos of weeds and wildflowers in the Liverpool City Region to help us document and appreciate our wild plants.
