Traces of the 5th Millennium: Jewish Artists Working in the UK 1999: Traces of the 5th Millennium: Jewish Artists Working in the UK
Hanover Galleries, L1
Date(s): 19/10/1999 - 30/10/1999
12:00 am

The theme of the Biennial is Trace, which we feel is the subject of particular relevance to the Jewish people with their rich history, which includes issues of persecution, unbelonging and displacement. This is why we have chosen it as the theme of our exhibition. Jewish artists will respond to this theme with a very particular Jewish perspective and add a subtlety that will not otherwise be present during the Biennial; however we leave it up to the artists to interpret this according to their own experience and concerns. It is hoped that this will generate debate, educational opportunities and a cultural interaction with the art environment, and with the public.
