The Space In Between

The Space In Between brings together the past works of eight artists who have each taken on dual roles as both creators and volunteer assistant curators for this year’s Independents Biennial. In this collection of black and white works, attention is brought to form, texture, and contrast, intentionally leaving space for interpretation, ambiguity and reflection.

The exhibition invites viewers to consider what emerges in the gaps, between black and white, between creation and curation, and between the individual and the collective.

Located adjacent to Port Sunlight’s iconic Lyceum as part of the original village
school, the Boys’ Brigade Building has been an important place for the
community, most significantly as a home for the Boys’ Brigade and the Lyceum
Brass Band. Transformed for gallery use this summer, the building is open to conversations with cultural groups and artists beyond the festival. Details here.
