Merseyside based musicians Lloyd Massett, Simon Bennett and Nathalie Loates explore the relationships between music and performer, analogue and digital techniques, and between cultural and musical idioms. Thought pre-production and live performance using a wide range of musical instrumentation, from the melodica to digital sequencing as well as video mixing, the event draws on the performers’ various backgrounds in dance, rock and classical avant-garde. By introducing a more conventional live music framework into the total experience of a 90s dance environment, the event questions what sort of role, if one exists anymore, is there for more ‘authentic’ transcendental performance, for so long central to the idea of the Original Artist.
