The Independents Biennial 2025 invites you to apply for a FREE stall at our arts market events at Birkenhead Market this summer!
The Independents Biennial is a Merseyside Arts Festival focused on providing opportunities for local artists to showcase their work and give them a jumpstart into their professional career. The Independents Biennial 2025 is running from the 7TH of June-14th of September this year, across 120 venues in Merseyside and exhibiting an impressive 64 artists. This year, we are hosting three events which will enable artists to show and sell their work, held in the historical Birkenhead Market building. Birkenhead Market was established in 1835 and has been an important hub for local trade and merchants ever since. We will be hosting three events at the market, including two makers markets, and one art fair focussed on fine arts and performance, so we will be catering to a wide spectrum of local creatives!
What are the benefits for you?
-free space to display and sell your work; we will take no commission on sales or for the cost of the table, and public liability insurance is on us!
-we will provide tables, chairs and gazebos, so all you need is your art and yourself
-exposure of your art within an established Arts Festival and you will be able to meet likeminded local creatives

-the events are open to people of all ages, at any point of their artistic career
-you are welcome to apply to multiple dates if your work fits in both categories (crafts and fine art/performance), number of events allocated to you will depend on number of applicants
-this open call is to artists and creatives who are currently living within the Merseyside Area shown below 
Independents Biennial Makers Market Info
-our two crafts events will run similar to a traditional artisan craft market
-you will be provided with a table, chair and gazebo
-you will be in attendance throughout the event, manning your stall
Independents Biennial Fine Art and Performance Fair Info
-this event is primarily focussed on artworks, providing more of an exhibition feel than a craft market
-you will be provided with a table, chair and gazebo for physical artworks, or space for performance work
-you will be in attendance throughout the event, manning your stall/area
-we will invite professionals from local galleries, so you can use this event as a pitch of your work, especially performance artists!
-you are welcome to sell original artwork and/or prints, as long as prints are labelled accordingly
