An Inquest Concerning Teeth: Sound and Soup [date:21/06/2025]
This workshop invites participants to explore the Liverpool coastline through attentive listening. A guided slow coastal sound walk along Crosby Beach; attendees listen and gather ambient and human-made sounds. Returning to the studio, participants analyze and translate audio into visual “sound maps” and creative sketches, drawing on food analogies to capture timbre and texture. Plus a coast-inspired soup tasting.
Produced by Dongni Liang and Georgina Tyson

Artist bio: “Sara Wolff is a composer, songwriter and sound artist who works with media composition, field recordings and live performance. Originally from Norway but now based in Liverpool, she uses field recordings, tape loops, analogue synths and voice to explore nature, people and their interconnection.
In 2025 she started her own soundwalk collective, ‘Sound Pals’, a monthly guided listening walk with the goal to explore and connect with the local spaces of Liverpool through listening in a present, curious way.
She has spent her time collecting bespoke soundscapes for films, sound libraries and compositions. Sara has composed music for projects such as Theresa Skamletz’ dance choreography ‘A Wet Bit Of Sand’, Cities And Memory ‘Adventure’ project, Olive Pascha’s short film ‘Carrot Cake’ starring Niamh Cusack, created in partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology and EMU films, and ‘The Gan-Finn’ by Louis Zillio.’’
About Crosby Beach:
Crosby Beach is the picturesque beginning to 22 miles of Sefton Coastline. From the shore visitors can enjoy views across the sea to Wirral and North Wales hills.
A walk along the beach allows views across to Wirral and North Wales. Due to the beaches close proximity to the Port of Liverpool, visitors can often marvel at huge container ships and cruise ships that pass by. The Burbo Bank offshore wind farm can be seen from the shore and adds to the unique coastal/industrial/artistic landscape that makes Crosby Beach so unique.
Crosby Beach is where you can see some of the finest sunsets in the country. The opening to the Irish Sea leaves uninterrupted views as the sun seemingly melts into the ocean.
The cherry on the cake of this area of coastline is internationally acclaimed artist ‘Antony Gormley’s ‘Another Place‘ installation. Crosby Beach is the permanent home to 100 cast-iron figures that stretch the coastline and almost a mile out to sea.
